Fasting is a form of body cleansing which is as old as civilisation itself. The main aim of fasting is to regulate and recalibrate the body's metabolism. Benefits from fasting include improved appearance of the skin (radiance), weight regulation (both over and underweight people), and a boost to your energy levels.

At Magic Mountain Retreat the fasting courses consist of cleansing the body using homemade fruit and vegetable juices. During the first three days of fasting the body feels weak and needs a lot of rest and tranquillity while it adjusts to only receiving fluids. By the fourth day however the energy levels increase due to the metabolism changing as the switch to consuming fluids and using up the body's energy reserves is completed. Many people are very surprised at how energised they feel at this point and this is due to the fact that using the body's stored energy is more efficient than metabolising food.

By not consuming solid foods the body's digestive system has a chance to rest and expel toxins which leads to a general improvement of your body's health and a feeling of wellbeing.
