The yoga courses at the retreat provide people with the opportunity to strengthen and develop their yoga technique. The course incorporates daily yoga sessions in a tranquil environment and is complemented with healthy food prepared and cooked according to the GI system to maximize your body’s energy.

Petra Widmer (Toshi) is our “resident” yoga teacher as she teaches all the yoga sessions that are included in the fasting, detox and GI diet courses at the Magic Mountain Retreat. She also offers you the opportunity to join her for special yoga courses at the retreat.
Toshi began her yoga training in a very intense way back in 1984 when she spent three months in the Indian jungle with a B.K.S. Iyengar student. She later expanded her yoga training by studying with teachers such as Michael Schmidt from the Amsterdam Iyengar Institute and Godfrey Devereux who is famous for his unique yoga style.
Since Toshi began teaching her own yoga classes in 1991, she has developed her own teaching style, which reflects her Iyengar and Ashtanga yoga training, as well as a deep understanding of the Chakras. In her classes she also incorporates Kriya Yoga (Kappalabhati and Bandhas) as well as breath awareness and sound (humming and OM).
Toshi
often also includes the Five Tibeten Rites in her yoga classes,
particularly when there are beginners in the group. These exercises are
said to be a form of Tibeten yoga and allow for a more gentle
progression into more demanding yoga exercises. They are also referred
to as the Five Rites of Rejuvenation due to the health benefits they can
bring about when the exercises are incorporated into a daily routine.
